A home without the sounds of laughter of a child is a situation to be solved by adoption
Whether you are pregnant and considering placing a child for adoption or want to bring a child into your family through adoption, we at Shepherd Care are the right place. Since 1980, we have been leader in providing adoption support to birth mothers throughout the state of Florida and adoptive families across the United States. Deciding to pursue adoption often raises many questions and uncertainties. With so many different agencies to choose from, it is important to find the agency that can best meet your individual needs. Adoption by Shepherd Care provides comprehensive services to birthmothers as well as domestic adoption and international adoption services to families.
Adoption by Shepherd Care has been working with courageous birthmothers who are making an adoption plan for their child and loving couples who want to become parents through adoption. ASC works with adoptive families throughout the United States and welcomes families of any racial, religious or ethnic background. Couples must be married for at least one year, and their average age must be between 25 to 50 years with neither spouse’s age exceeding 52 years. The first step in domestic adoption process is to schedule a consultation through phone or in person. Couples then compile their registration documents and create a profile of their family for birthmothers to view and choose for. Once birthmother chooses prospective adoptive parents, they have the opportunity to meet either during or after the pregnancy. In domestic adoption according to the wishes of the adoptive parents and birthmothers, letters and pictures can be exchanged until the child turns 18.
According to Florida law, a birthmother may sign the legal documents to place her child for adoption 48 hours after the birth or upon her discharge whichever is first. There is no revocation period after signing these documents. The adoptive family may take placement of the child upon discharge or soon thereafter. They have to complete three post-placement reports through their home study agency during 90 days after the placement of the child in their home, after which ASC’s attorney will collaborate with the family to complete the necessary documents to finalize the adoption. We strive to keep the cost of adoption as low as possible without compromising our comprehensive services to adoptive families and birthmothers. Since each family has their own unique situation, we offer private adoption consultations which acquaint you further with the process of adoption through our agency and give you the opportunity to speak one-on-one with our staff members.
